Reporter's lens
Hi, I'm Rajesh
For close to 25 years, I have been actively engaged as a business journalist, political analyst, public policy commentator, newsroom leader and an editor.
When I left the Hindustan Times (HT), the chief intention was to re-invent. My extended stint at HT, spanning nearly 11 years, mostly involved me in leadership roles -- notably pushing for organizational and technological transformation and stewarding the shift to a ‘digitally integrated newsroom’.
Prior to HT, I worked with the NY-headquartered Associated Press as their Business Writer for South Asia. This assignment, in essence, saw me both as chronicler of Asia’s epochal economic transformation under conditions of globalization.
Through my years at HT and AP, I had opportunities to gain first-hand experiences of what ‘rapid, accelerated change’ has come to mean. By working in momentous times in some of the finest newsrooms ─ including interactive stints at the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian and the Washington Post – I almost intuitively developed a keen commitment towards understanding and trying to stay ahead of the unsettled worlds created by economic and technological transformations.
The current ‘media-landscape’, thus, for me, is a frontier that is unsettling and recreating new worlds of meaning and communication. We are called to a fresh adventure for understanding our times.
